Speed ring systems use rings to connect horizontal and diagonal braces to vertical standards (uprights) quickly and securely.

The speed ring is a circular piece of metal with holes drilled into it. Scaffolders place the ring over the vertical standard and secure it in place with a locking pin. They then insert the horizontal and diagonal braces into the holes of the speed ring and secure them with locking pins.
